Somnia REPsystem map

REP is an identity signal, not a currency. The number isn't something you spend - it's visible proof you've contributed consistently. The harder it is to earn, the more it means to hold.

3,000SOMI
The most SOMI rewarded in a month. You earn from your own score, so nobody else's posting shrinks what you get. If everyone together goes over 3,000, every reward drops by the same percentage.

Why Cem gets nothing. A score of 30 becomes 3 REP, and you need 8 REP to earn anything. The floor keeps the month from being split a few coins at a time across everyone who posted once.

Why Ana gets 420 and not 450. This month the board earned 3,210 between everyone, which is over the 3,000 ceiling. So every reward is multiplied by the same 0.93. Ana keeps 420, Ben keeps 112. Ana still gets far more than Ben, because the scaling is the same percentage for both. It never reorders anyone.

1What makes a post count
๐Ÿท๏ธ

Tag an official account

The surest route, and the most used: 25,076 posts. Any of these in your own text and nothing can go wrong. On a reply, the handles X carries over from the post above are not yours and do not count:

@Somnia_Network @SomniaFndn @SomniaEco @SomniaDevs @dreamDEXSomnia @ProphecySocial_

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Quote one

A quote tweet of an official account counts even with no words of your own.

๐Ÿ’ฒ

Use the $SOMI cashtag

The cashtag is unambiguous, so it qualifies on its own.

๐Ÿงต

Continue your own thread

Reply to yourself under a post that already counts and the continuation counts too. Long form without paying for Premium.

Tag, reply, quote or use the cashtag and your older posts count too. When you link, everything you already wrote is checked, and any post that pointed at Somnia that way counts, whether it came before or after you linked.

Write only the bare word “somnia”, with no official account involved, and it counts from the day you linked onwards. Never backdated. The word is free to type, so without that cutoff the cheapest attack is to post it daily for months, link once, and collect the backlog. Words that merely contain it, like “insomnia”, never match.
2How a post is scored

Effort  85%

An AI model reads your post next to what Somnia’s official accounts had already posted before it, and rates 0–100 what your post adds: your own use, your own numbers, a claim you stand behind, a specific criticism. Rewording or summarising an announcement scores low, however well made. A post showing your own use of a Somnia product, like your own trade or PnL, your rank or a quest you completed, is first-hand and scores fairly even when it is short. So does an original meme or joke you made yourself. A reply is judged against the post it answers as well. An image adds to your score only when your words add something too. It never sees your name, your followers, or your likes.

A well-argued critical post scores high. Copy-pasted hype scores low, however positive.

Reach  15%

Likes, reposts, quotes, replies and bookmarks, weighted by how much each costs the person doing it.

Used as your rank against everyone else this cycle, not a raw count, so one viral post cannot redefine the scale.

Why 85/15? Twelve moderators compared 720 pairs of posts blind. This split agreed with them 83.5% of the time. Ranking by engagement alone agreed 57% of the time, barely better than a coin flip. That is the whole design in one number: what you wrote matters roughly five times more than how many people liked it.
3Images, GIFs and video
A picture can raise your score. It can never lower it. Every image is rated on its own, and what the image is decides how much it adds. It is not compared against your writing, so a diagram alongside strong writing counts just as much as one alongside weak writing.

Work you made that carries information adds the most: a diagram, a designed infographic, an annotated chart, a screenshot of something you built. A chart or dashboard you chose but did not make adds a little. A meme, a bare logo, a stock or promotional graphic adds nothing as a picture. An original meme you made still counts through the post itself, as in section 2.

One direction only. An image can raise a score, never lower it, so a meme on a good post costs you nothing.
๐ŸŽจ

Original artwork

A diagram you drew, a designed infographic, a shot of something you built. Adds the most.

๐Ÿ“Š

Charts you did not make

An informative graphic you picked rather than made. Adds a little.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

Screenshots

Useful context, but almost no work in the picture. Adds the least of the ones that count.

๐Ÿ˜‚

Memes, logos, promo graphics

Add nothing as pictures, and cost you nothing either. Your own original meme still scores as a post.

Video and GIFs: nothing watches the video. X provides a single still frame and that frame is what gets rated, so a polished explainer and a still of its title card look the same. Not penalised, not yet properly rewarded either.
4Replies, and how long a post grows
01

A reply under someone else counts half

They average 58 characters and an effort rating of 13. Without the discount a hundred of them would outweigh one real piece of writing.

02

Your own thread counts in full

What matters is whose thread it is, not who you replied to. Continuing your own thread counts in full. Replying under somebody else's post counts half, even if you are replying to yourself.

03

Engagement is re-read for seven days

Every two hours. A post that catches on the day after you wrote it is picked up and your score follows it. After seven days the numbers settle.

04

A reply counts only on your own words

X copies every handle from the post above into your reply. Those inherited tags do not qualify it. Tag an official account yourself, use the cashtag, or say Somnia in what you wrote, and it counts. In early September about 2,000 replies between Guardians qualified on inherited tags alone; 39 mentioned Somnia themselves. Applied from 13 September to the whole month.

05

Replies from other Guardians do not raise your reach

Reach is meant to measure people outside the programme. A reply from another linked Guardian is taken back out of your reply count before the score is computed. Likes, reposts and bookmarks stay as X reports them; they carry no author.

06

Posts must be 15 minutes apart

An original post counts only if it is at least 15 minutes after your previous one. Twenty posts in twelve minutes count as one. Nobody who is writing hits this; the most prolific genuine author on the board averages two a day. Applies to everyone, and the row says burst when it fires.

07

Your best 20 replies a day count

Of your replies under other people’s posts, the best 20 each day (UTC) count, at half as above. Reply as much as you like; the rest stay on your record and simply add nothing. “Best” is by score, so the limit never drops a good reply to keep a weak one. Continuing your own thread is not capped. Applies from 1 October.

5From score to SOMI
01

Your score for the month

The sum of every approved post you made in that calendar month.

02

Adjusted for how you post

From October, your month is weighed by your posting pattern. A human pattern gets a boost. Bot-like pace, hundreds of posts a day or dozens in an hour, gets a reduction, and so do AI-written replies. They stack. Writing as yourself is the best strategy there is.

03

Divided by 10, then a tier bonus

Scout ×1.0, Voice ×1.2 from 50, Signal ×1.5 from 150. Tiers key off your score, never your post count.

04

8 REP minimum to qualify

Below the floor, no SOMI for that cycle.

05

10 SOMI per REP, capped at 3,000

If everyone together earns more than the cap, every share is scaled down by the same proportion. Nobody is cut off at a line.

Two numbers, two questions The board shows what you have earned this cycle: your tier, your REP and your SOMI all count only posts made since the 1st. So the board starts empty each month and fills as people post.

Your rolling 30 days has not gone anywhere. Hover the REP number and you will see both, this cycle and the last thirty days underneath it.

An empty board on the 1st is not a reset and nothing has been taken away. Last month is finished and rewarded; this month has not started earning yet.

Months are used rather than a rolling 30 days for one reason: a month can be checked. Ask what September rewarded and the answer is the same in October as it is next year. A rolling window gives a different answer every day you ask it.
Where to see it, and how it reaches you The leaderboard is at guardian.somnia.builders. Sign in with Discord: Mindshare is the board, Profile is your own posts with the score each one earned and the reason it was given. SOMI arrives through Flippy, the same tipping system as before. Nothing to claim and no wallet to connect.
One Guardian posted 209 times for a score of 198. Another posted 41 times for 170. Nearly the same contribution, five times the volume. Posting more is not the cheat code.
6What does not count

Ignored entirely

Your follower count. Not an input anywhere, and the model never sees it. The measured relationship between followers and score is +0.03. Between how much you post and your score it is +0.96.

Whether you were positive about Somnia. Sentiment is recorded to read the mood of the community. It is never subtracted from anyone.

Keeping the role

REP no longer decays. Nothing you earned is taken back for being quiet.

The role still has to be held. Forty-five days without a qualifying post and nothing on the leaderboard, and it comes off. It does not come back on its own.

7Where a human comes in
Almost everything is approved automatically. Only the highest-value posts, roughly three a day across everyone, go in front of a moderator. That is not a judgement about you: a post worth a meaningful share of the pool deserves a second pair of eyes, and one worth almost nothing does not need one. Every post keeps the model's written reason for the rating it gave, so if you think yours was scored wrongly, say so.
